Week 4 Fantasy Football Winners and Losers: 2025 Edition

Quarterback

Biggest Winner: Dak Prescott (Cowboys)

No CeeDee Lamb, no problem for Prescott (for this week at least). The Cowboys signalcaller diced up the Packers for 319 YDS and 3 TD's and even dialed back the clock by scoring a 4th TD on a 2-YD QB draw in a thrilling SNF shootout that ended in a tie. Prescott has been pretty great to start the year and will most likely keep rolling in Week 5 when the 'Boys travel to East Rutherford to take on the wayward Jets.

Honorable Mentions: Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs), Justin Fields (Jets), Bo Nix (Broncos)

Biggest Loser: Justin Herbert (Chargers)

The Madison Beer bump may be over folks. Largely fueled by an offensive line that could not contain the Giants pass rush, Herbert was pretty ineffective during Sunday's loss in the Meadowlands-throwing for 203 YDS/1 TD/2 INT's, rushing for 24 YDS and adding a 2-PT CNV with his legs late in the 4th quarter. Herbert and his now Joe Alt-less line will look for redemption in Week 5 against a Commanders defense that has gotten torched by the pass throughout the first month of the season.

Dishonorable Mentions: Jared Goff (Lions), Caleb Williams (Bears), Daniel Jones (Colts)

Running Back

Biggest Winner: Ashton Jeanty (Raiders)

A banged-up Bears defense that has been absolutely horrendous against the run to start the season presented Jeanty with the breakout game opportunity his fantasy managers had been waiting for. The rookie delivered in this dream spot and then some, turning 21 carries into a 138 YDS and a TD and catching a pair of passes for 17 YDS that just so happened to earn him an additional two trips to the endzone. His lone blemish came on a fumble on the Raiders first drive of the game, but nobody is going to complain about him losing 2 points after he stuffed the stat sheet in the way that he did. Jeanty will look to carry the momentum from his 1st strong game as a pro into another plus matchup against the Colts in Week 5.

Honorable Mentions: Josh Jacobs (Packers), Bijan Robinson (Falcons), Omarion Hampton (Chargers)

Biggest Loser: David Montgomery (Lions)

The stout Browns run D completely bottled-up Montgomery to the point where the Lions barely gave him the ball even after they broke the game open in the second half, which left him with one of the worst statlines you'll see from a back this season (9 CAR, 12 YDS). Montgomery should be more involved and productive versus the Bengals mess of a defense this Sunday afternoon.

Dishonorable Mentions: Derrick Henry (Ravens), Trey Benson (Cardinals), Jacory Croskey-Merritt (Commanders)

Wide Receiver

Biggest Winner: Puka Nacua (Rams)

The NFL's most unheralded star WR put together a masterpiece on Sunday against the Colts, shredding their hapless secondary for 170 YDS and a TD on 13 receptions. Unleashing a route-runner this sharp in a Sean McVay offense is just mean and as long as Nacua remains healthy, he'll be an elite weekly WR1 play.

Honorable Mentions: George Pickens (Cowboys), Amon-Ra St. Brown (Lions), DK Metcalf (Steelers)

Biggest Loser: Ladd McConkey (Chargers)

Naturally, Herbert's rough afternoon against the Giants further ratcheted up the frustration surrounding the shocking disappearing act that McConkey has been pulling to start his sophomore season as he only managed to catch 1 of his 6 targets for 11 YDS. How McConkey has gone from the Chargers most reliable pass-catcher to a clear third wheel behind Quentin Johnston and Keenan Allen in 9 months' time is beyond anyone who isn't employed by the team's comprehension and it's fair to say that he's the single biggest disappointment in fantasy so far this given his top 25 ADP in all formats. The aforementioned horse shit Commanders pass D presents McConkey with a great opportunity to finally break out of his early season slump.

Dishonorable Mentions: A.J. Brown (Eagles), Ja'Marr Chase (Bengals), DeVonta Smith (Eagles)

Tight End

Biggest Winner: Dallas Goedert (Eagles)

There was only one pass-catcher on the Eagles who made it out of Sunday's ugly win against the Bucs in which Jalen Hurts failed to complete a pass in the second half with a good statline and that individual was Goedert. The Eagles starting tight end only caught 4 balls for 37 YDS, but he was able to spice up those pedestrian reception and yardage totals by finding the endzone twice. As volatile as the Eagles passing attack is, Goedert's status as a top redzone target will keep him fantasy relevant whenever he suits up to play.

Honorable Mentions: Tyler Warren (Colts), Kyle Pitts (Falcons), Jake Ferguson (Cowboys)

Biggest Loser: David Njoku (Browns)

Njoku's cold start to 2025 hit a new low as he caught 2-of-3 targets for 11 YDS on a day where Joe Flacco got the shit kicked out of him by the Lions nearly every time he dropped back to pass. The veteran tight end will be a shaky starting option when the Browns travel over to London to take on the Vikings and Brian Flores' unpredictable defense this Sunday.

Dishonorable Mentions: Juwan Johnson (Saints), Sam LaPorta (Lions), Zach Ertz (Commanders)

Defense/Special Teams

Biggest Winner: Lions

As I just mentioned above, the Lions defense ran over Joe Flacco and co. this past Sunday-logging 3 sacks, 2 INT and a FUM REC in a 34-10 victory. A Kalif Raymond punt return TD early in the 4th quarter when the game was already well in hand served as a nice little bonus for every Lions D/ST owner that was already elated by their performance. A date with the bumbling Jake Browning-led Bengals is up next for the Lions.

Honorable Mentions: Eagles, Texans, Steelers

Biggest Loser: Packers

What the hell happened to the supposedly vaunted Packers defense in Week 4? Save for Micah Parsons' game-saving sack of Dak Prescott in OT, Jeff Hafley's group looked completely helpless as the Cowboys moved the ball down the field with ease and hung 38 points on them (the other two points in this 40-40 tie came on the Cowboys return of a blocked extra point in the 2nd quarter). They're a good bet to get back into the good graces of fantasy players when they return to action against the Bengals in Week 6.

Dishonorable Mentions: Ravens, Vikings, Bills

4.The Other Guys (A)

3.Furious 7 (A)

2.Pain & Gain (A)

1.Fast Five (A)

Top Dog: Fast Five (2011)

What makes Fast Five the peak of the Fast and the Furious franchise to me is that it marked the perfect balance between its origins as a humble street racing movie and the proudly over-the-top globetrotting pseudo-superhero franchise it eventually morphed into. The specifics of the plot and the huge climactic setpiece where the crew is dragging a bank vault through the streets of Rio de Janeiro are just ridiculous enough to feel like a natural extension of what the team were up to in the first four films and this perfect tonal balance paired with Justin Lin's electrifying direction and Johnson's stern, snarky Luke Hobbs entering the fold to challenge the way "The Family" conducts business makes it one of the most delightfully fun spectacles released this century.

Bottom Feeder: Be Cool (2005)

Happy 20th anniversary to the historic turd that is Be Cool! An F. Gary Gray-directed film starring a number of magnetic, talented performers (John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Johnson, Vince Vaughn, Danny DeVito, Harvey Keitel, Cedric the Entertainer) shouldn't be this embarrassingly unfunny and painful to sit through! Here's to another 20 years of sucking shit and making Zoolander 2 look like a masterful comedy sequel by comparison!

Most Underrated: Pain & Gain (2013)

I remain steadfast in my belief that this is a funnier, more biting satirical takedown of the unattainable illusion that is the "American Dream" and shameless material excess serving as the ultimate symbol of personal success than The Wolf of Wall Street. Michael Bay's signature scuzzy, hyperactive direction is the perfect vessel to deliver this warped fact-based story about three lunkhead Miami bodybuilders (Mark Wahlberg, Johnson, Anthony Mackie-all giving career-best turns) whose plan to extort a wealthy businessman (Tony Shalhoub) goes awry in spectacular fashion and the script from Stephen McFeeley and Christopher Markus does a tremendous job of conveying just how doomed and silly the protagonists pursuit of "the good life" was from the start.

Most Overrated: Moana (2016)

This isn't a completely fair pick as Moana never even comes close to sinking to the same deep level of obnoxiousness as Frozen does, and is unquestionably out of my wheelhouse. At the same time, Lin Manuel-Miranda's songs are reliably grating and the consensus opinion on this is higher than just about any other animated film released in the past 15 years, which is enough for me to declare it overrated.

Movie Review: A Big Bold Beautiful Journey

There's such a steady stream of gossip about movies being pedaled on the internet these days that it would be irresponsible and inadvisable to accept the vast majority of this information at face value. However, there are instances where a studio's handling of a certain film presents some concerns that validate these whispers and A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is one of those cases. First off, Sony's promotional campaign was limited to in-theater trailers and a handful of joint press appearances from stars Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie. Secondly, despite boasting a prime late September release date, being headlined by a pair of Oscar-nominated actors with name recognition and having a splashy writer/director team (Seth Reiss-who co-wrote The Menu, arthouse darling Kogonada-who directed Columbus and After Yang) behind it, it skipped the fall festival circuit entirely. This combination led to a lack of juice for a wide release that was notable even by today's standards where the majority of movies come and go from theaters with little fanfare.  After seeing A Big Bold Beautiful Journey last weekend, I can't say that I fault Sony at all for their handling of it as the film just doesn't work at all.

As the title indicates, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is a film that aspires to be a sweeping romantic tale. It aims to achieve this by bringing together a pair of strangers (Farrell, Robbie) who've sabotaged every relationship they've ever been in then taking them on a fantastical road trip via a magical GPS that forces them to confront various painful moments from their past with the hopes that the perspective they gain from looking back at their past traumas/failures will allow them to find the love that's long alluded them both with each other. It's a refreshingly strange conceit for a movie that had the potential to be a really moving, subversive love story. The execution just happens to be so shockingly bland for something that's so inherently original that it was DOA before the titular adventure even begun.

The boring nature of the movie is primarily driven by how poor the pairing of Farrell and Robbie as the prospective couple proves to be. While Reiss' cornball dialogue and Kogonada's stiff direction certainly don't help matters, sharper writing or direction couldn't have saved the lack of true chemistry that exists between these two. At best, they feel like two cordial co-workers who could stumble into a one-night stand after an office party if they had both taken enough trips to the punch bowl. I'm not naive enough to pretend that people with tepid connections don't end up getting married all the time, but having a "fuck it, let's be together" relationship serve as the emotional center of a whimsical romance that's supposed to be about two hurt people who were too afraid to open their hearts finally choosing to surrender to the power of true love is laughably unconvincing. What's ironic is that off-camera Farrell and Robbie appear to like each other just fine, so this might just be a case of talented actors not being able to dig into their tool chest and produce the sparks required to sell an undeniable romance on screen.

When Sony spent $50 million on the rights to produce A Big Bold Beautiful Journey back in May 2023, they probably never envisioned that it would turn into the "what the hell happened?!?" movie of the year among cinephiles and completely fizzle out at the box office (the total gross as of Wednesday of is a measly $4.43 mil). Alas, that's just how creative endeavors pan out sometimes and hopefully the brass won't use the shoulder shrugs and blank faces this film was mostly met with to scare themselves from taking chances on other unique original projects in the future.

Regina Hall Ranked

Welcome to "Ranked", a weekly series where I rank a franchise or filmography from worst to best and hand out assorted related superlatives. This week, I'm profiling the work of Regina Hall-whose latest project "One Battle After Another" is in theaters today.

Regina Hall's Filmography Ranked:

23.O'Dessa (D)

22.First Sunday (D+)

21.King's Ransom (D+)

20.Naked (C-)

19.The Honeymooners (C)

18.Little (C+)

17.Me Time (C+)

16.Malibu's Most Wanted (C+)

15.About Last Night (B-)

14.Love & Basketball (B-)

13.Scary Movie 4 (B-)

12.Support the Girls (B-)

11.Vacation (B)

10.Scary Movie 2 (B)

9.Barbershop: The Next Cut (B)

8.Shaft (B)

7.Girls Trip (B)

6.Death at a Funeral (B)

5.Scary Movie 3 (B)

4.Scary Movie (B)

3.The Hate U Give (B)

2.Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul. (B+)

1.Law Abiding Citizen (B+)

Top Dog: Law Abiding Citizen (2009)

Few basic cable favorites from the 2000's slap as hard as F. Gary Gray's Law Abiding Citizen. It's one of those special thrillers that really revels in its own silliness and that unapologetic dedication to being absurd makes it a blast to watch from start to finish.

Bottom Feeder: O'Dessa (2025)

Whew doggy, it's not very often that you see a real Hollywood production miss the mark as badly as O'Dessa does. Geremy Jasper's efforts to make a sweeping emotional epic post-apocalyptic rock opera go off the rails in spectacular fashion thanks to its boring original songs, story that's so busy advancing to its next plot point that it never allows emotions to enter the equation and one of the least convincing whirlwind romances ever put on screen between Sadie Sink's O'Dessa and Kelvin Harrison Jr's Euri Dervish. I won't be the least bit surprised if this ends up being my least favorite movie of the year.

Most Underrated: Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. (2022)

As a megachurch satire, Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. is often very funny but doesn't have quite enough venom behind the punchlines to be treated as a consequential takedown of a culture that is synonymous with charismatic grifters proudly going against the words of their own sermons by exploiting members of their congregation in order to enjoy and sustain a lavish lifestyle for themselves. As an acting showcase for Hall and Sterling K. Brown-who play the first couple of a megachurch re-opening their doors a year after enduring a scandal that nearly brought down their empire-it's sensational. Hall brings an incredible mix of humor, empathy and desperation to a woman who is struggling to grasp with the reality that her time as a powerful figure has come to an end while Brown is a magnetic, pathetic piece of shit whose only real connection with his wife is a shared fear of losing the money and status they had before the world discovered his darkest secret. It's kind of a travesty that neither of them got nominated for an Oscar for their tremendous. career-defining work here.

Most Overrated: Love & Basketball (2000)

This is a weird one for me as I'm a basketball fan and think Gina Prince-Bythewood is a talented filmmaker who is among the most underrated directors working today. I just never got fully invested in the central relationship between Quincy (Omar Epps) and Monica (Sanaa Lathan) despite the film's admirable efforts to sell these characters as soulmates that were destined to be together despite all the obstacles life threw at them across multiple decades and that prevented me from thinking the film was anything better than decent.

Week 3 Fantasy Football Winners and Losers: 2025 Edition

Quarterback

Biggest Winner: Jalen Hurts (Eagles)

Hurts finally found a pretty good groove (226 YDS, 3 TD's) as a passer versus the Rams after back-to-back sluggish outings to start the year. He also did his usual damage on the ground (40 YDS and a TD) to cap off a day that was pretty great save for a lost fumble. The high floor QB1 will face a Bucs team that is somehow 3-0 in Week 4.

Honorable Mentions: Caleb Williams (Bears), Lamar Jackson (Ravens), Josh Allen (Bills)

Biggest Loser: Jordan Love (Packers)

Leave it to the always erratic Love to post a stinker at a time where no expected him to. In fairness to Love, his line did him no favors as he was under constant pressure and got sacked 5 times on only 30 dropbacks. Regardless, throwing for 183 YDS, a TD and an ill-timed 4th quarter INT that ended up playing in a big role in their narrow loss to the lowly Browns is pretty inexcusable. A Week 4 showdown against the ghastly Cowboys defense who appear to have the worst pass rush in the league after trading Micah Parsons provides Love with the perfect bounceback opportunity.

Dishonorable Mentions: Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs), Jared Goff (Lions), Kyler Murray (Cardinals)

Running Back

Biggest Winner: Jonathan Taylor (Colts)

He pulled off the repeat! Unlike last week's game against the Broncos where his passing game contributions catapulted him into the top RB spot (he retreated back to his normal receiving lines this week with 3 receptions for 16 YDS), Taylor earned this one the old-fashioned way on the ground by bulldozing through the Titans for 102 YDS and 3 TD's on just 17 carries. Taylor is off to his best start to a season since he won the rushing title back in 2021 and will look to keep rolling against the Rams this week.

Honorable Mentions: David Montgomery (Lions), Jahmyr Gibbs (Lions), Jordan Mason (Vikings)

Biggest Loser: Chase Brown (Bengals)

Abysmal gamescript and the continued woes of the Bengals line did Brown in against the Vikings as he managed just 3 YDS on 10 carries and 17 YDS on 4 receptions. A Week 4 contest with the Broncos could prove to be a big test for his viability as a fantasy starter while Jake Browning is under center.

Dishonorable Mentions: Rhamondre Stevenson (Patriots), Alvin Kamara (Saints), Ashton Jeanty (Raiders)

Wide Receiver

Biggest Winner: Courtland Sutton (Broncos)

Despite another poor showing from Bo Nix against the Chargers, Sutton managed to have himself a really nice day at the office-hauling in 6 receptions for a 118 YDS and a score (for comparison's sake, the rest of the team managed just 35 YDS on 8 receptions). The Broncos WR1 should be a great WR2 play this week when he goes up against a shaky Bengals pass D.

Honorable Mentions: A.J. Brown (Eagles), Garrett Wilson (Jets), Nico Collins (Texans)

Biggest Loser: Malik Nabers (Giants)

Steve Spagnuolo dedicated all of his resources to slowing down Nabers and it worked as the star wideout only caught 2-of-7 targets for 13 YDS in an ugly home loss for the Giants to the defending AFC Champs. Even if Jaxson Dart hits the ground running in his 1st career start, Nabers could be in for another week of tough sledding against a really physical Chargers secondary on Sunday.

Dishonorable Mentions: Tee Higgins (Bengals), Zay Flowers (Ravens), Calvin Ridley (Titans)

Tight End

Biggest Winner: Hunter Henry (Patriots)

On a day where the Patriots offense committed a whopping 5 turnovers in a demoralizing loss to the Steelers, Henry was the sole bright spot on the offense. The veteran tight end led the team in receptions (8) and receiving YDS (90) and scored both of their touchdowns. As long as the Patriots receivers continue to struggle, Henry will have a real chance to be their primary pass-catcher every single week.

Honorable Mentions: Mark Andrews (Ravens), Dalton Kincaid (Bills), Jake Ferguson (Cowboys)

Biggest Loser: Tucker Kraft (Packers)

It was a really good week for TE's in fantasy as nearly every starting-level tight end found the endzone and/or cleared 50+ YDS, which left Kraft's quiet performance (3 REC/29 YDS) against the Browns as the runaway winner for this unfortunate title. Kraft has a great chance of returning to the top-tier TE1 space he occupied during the first 2 weeks of the season against a Cowboys defense that has gotten lit up by the pass in back-to-back games.

Dishonorable Mentions: Travis Kelce (Chiefs), Harold Fannin Jr. (Browns), Tyler Warren (Colts)

Defense/Special Teams

Biggest Winner: Vikings

Bengals fans at least got temporarily drained of any optimism they had in Jake Browning's ability to keep the ship afloat while Joe Burrow was out as they watched Brian Flores straight up bully them for 4 quarters. The Vikings D ended this 48-10 beatdown with an absolutely ridiculous statline that reads as follows: 4 sacks, 2 INT's 3 FUM REC's and 2 TD's (a fumble return and an INT, both by CB Isaiah Rodgers). The Vikings will travel to Dublin in Week 4 to take on a Steelers offense that has had some struggles with turnovers and pass protection to start the year.

Honorable Mentions: Seahawks, Steelers, Eagles

Biggest Loser: Ravens

For the 2nd time in 3 weeks, the Ravens defense looked completely overwhelmed by their opponent as the Lions offense hung 38 points on them with basically zero resistance outside of a few drives-particularly against the run. This is the 2nd straight year that Zach Orr's group has come out super flat out of the gate defensively and even in a matchup against the low wattage Chiefs offense this week, it might not be worth the risk of starting them until they show they're capable of actually slowing somebody down.

Dishonorable Mentions: Bills, Chargers, Texans
