2014 Mid-Year Report: Movies

This has been an ODD year for movies so far. Save for a few exceptions (22 Jump Street, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Noah), a large number of the major films that I was excited for I've seen this year have been at least slightly disappointing. Amidst all the disappointment that's been offered up thus far, there was a couple of films I had practically no expectations for (The Lego Movie, Divergent) that ended up being in the top-tier of everything I saw from January-June. With a lot of intriguing titles on the docket for the last six months (especially in August and October), there's some hope on the horizon that the second half of 2014 will net more success than the first half did. Here's everything I've seen so far this year (with star ratings) ranked from worst to best.

18.Godzilla (1.5/5)
17.About Last Night (3/5)
16.I, Frankenstein (3/5)
15.The Monuments Men (3/5)
