It's feel like 1996 all over again. It's been over a decade since the last Scream film came out and 15 years since the iconic original was released. In 2011, Scream 4 successfully manages to bring the Scream formula into a new decade. Even after all these years, these films have not lost their edge. Scream 4 maintains the self-aware, comic tone that the past films in the franchise have had. Sure it's not as innovative of an approach as it was in 1996, but it still makes for a fun and often quite funny film. Scream 4 reminded me of the fun of the original, just updated for current times. The spoofing of remakes was an interesting and funny touch. Horror remakes are the most common remakes and often the worst out of all remakes. I was glad that these films were able to get a good bashing in the typical, satirical Scream fashion. Scream 4 isn't groundbreaking by any means, but it's solid, amusing slasher film that provides two hours of gory fun.
