In August 2022, I was taken aback by the minimal changes in how I felt about 2021's records when I put together my annual "Revisited" piece. For the 2nd straight year, there has basically no movement among the top albums or notable changes in how I felt about the musical year on the whole. Maybe it's just a coincidence, maybe my opinions are harder to change as I'm getting order or maybe it's something else entirely. The only certainty is that the answer to this monumental question will eventually reveal itself in time.
Really, the only strong revelation that did emerge over the past 7 months is that Will Ramos-era Lorna Shore is a force to be reckoned with in the deathcore scene. It's hard to believe that the same band who put out the pretty generic Psalms in 2015 was able to put something out as massive, emotional and intricately-written as Pain Remains 7 years later.
