Indianapolis Colts over Houston Texans: Deshaun Watson may already be the best quarterback in franchise history, but I still have a very difficult time trusting the Texans organization once the calendar turns to January. Unless you hold their pair of sloppy victories over the hapless Bengals or 2017's comical blowout of a Connor Cook-led Raiders team in high regard, there's not a whole lot to gush over when assessing this franchise's playoff history (they've been outscored 125-57 in their other 4 playoff games, all losses). Their dismal postseason history combined with their middling play in December makes a matchup with the Colts less-than-ideal. This Colts squad plays with a ton of edge on both sides of the ball, has a veteran quarterback in Andrew Luck that boasts a pretty strong playoff resume in games that were held outside of Gillette Stadium (3-1 record, 8 total TD's, 6 INT, 84.7 QBR) and have only lost 1 of their last 10 games-including a win at Houston in early December. In a likely close game between two divisional opponents, I have to give the advantage to the tougher team that's been playing better football of late.
Seattle Seahawks over Dallas Cowboys: This is the 1st playoff matchup between these two teams since the infamous Tony Romo botched field goal hold game during the 2006 playoffs. Nearly 12 years to the day of that unforgettable gaffe, I'm expecting the Seahawks to come out of Arlington with a W yet again. As great as this defense and Ezekiel Elliott have been this season, I just can't pick against a Russell Wilson/Pete Carroll-led team that has a tendency to masterfully control the clock with their top-ranked rushing offense and delivers in big moments more often than not-particularly when you look at the decisive victories they've earned over the Cowboys (21-12 in Dallas last year, 24-13 in Seattle this year) in back-to-back seasons.
Baltimore Ravens over Los Angeles Chargers: The 2018 Chargers have made a habit of winning when they weren't supposed to and a 2,600+ mile trip to a hostile environment for a game that kicks off at 10:00 AM PST certainly qualifies as such. However, the Ravens are on a god damn warpath right now and I'd be surprised if a Chargers squad who has struggled to put points on the board in back-to-back weeks thanks to Philip Rivers' regularly-scheduled sudden decline in play will be able to hang with this old-school monster of a team that can stifle opposing offenses as well as anyone in the league while wearing down defenses with a revolving door of dynamic rushing threats.
Chicago Bears over Philadelphia Eagles: I'm having a REALLY hard time not picking the Eagles here. The defending Super Bowl Champs have a huge edge in postseason experience (duh), Doug Pederson likely has a ton of insight on former protégé Matt Nagy's tendencies from their days in Kansas City and Nick Foles has an inexplicable gift for putting up monster performances in important games. Despite all of these very legitimate reasons to pick Philly, I'm giving the ever-so-slightest of edges to the Bears. Their aggressive, takeaway-happy defense gives them the best possible chance of limiting Big Dick Nick's aerial magic and as long as they maintain the balance they've displayed in recent weeks and avoid turning the ball over, Mitch Trubisky and co. should be able to expose the flaws on the back end of the Eagles defense.

NFL Wild Card Predictions
The chaos of playoff football kicks off tomorrow. This year's playoff bracket should be especially exciting since there is really no dominant team in the league this year. It should be an exciting and unpredictable month of football before the leagues crowns a champion at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on February 2nd. Now let's get the ball rolling with my predictions for this weekend's wild-card matchups.
Indianapolis Colts over Kansas City Chiefs: The Colts and Chiefs have had arguably the weakest second halves of the season out of any team that made the playoffs. I don't expect either of them to make it past the divisional round but since they are matched up against each other this week, someone has to it make to the next round and I think the Colts will be the team to advance. Quite simply, I just like the way the Colts have been playing of late more than the Chiefs. Andrew Luck is back on the money at quarterback, the Colts defense is healthy and most importantly, the Colts spanked the Chiefs two weeks ago in Kansas City. The Chiefs clearly have a chance thanks to workhorse running back Jammal Charles, but I just don't think they have enough weapons to beat the Colts. Alex Smith, who typically doesn't make mistakes, plays uncharacteristically poor against the Colts and their defense is wildly banged-up at the moment. If Smith can turn his fortune around and the Chiefs defense can overcome their injuries and get to Luck, the Chiefs have a shot. If not, I expect the Colts to take this one pretty easily.
Philadelphia Eagles over New Orleans Saints: Time to see if Nick Foles and Chip Kelly are legit as they enter their first playoff run. When it comes to this meeting with the New Orleans Saints, I believe they can complete the task. The Saints just aren't the same team on the road and it should especially be bad in the elements of Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday night. The Eagles also have the top-ranked rushing offense and the Saints run defense is below-average at best and should struggle trying to contain running back LeSean McCoy, who is playing out of his mind right now. The Saints best chance to win is to take advantage of the Eagles awful passing defense. The Eagles don't have anyone that is physical enough to shut down Jimmy Graham or Marques Colston, so if the Eagles pass rush doesn't get to Drew Brees, he could shred them and put them in control of the game. Ultimately, I believe the Eagles rushing offense, the Saints one-dimensional offense and the elements will lead to an Eagles victory.
Cincinnati Bengals over San Diego Chargers: The Bengals have stumbled the past two years on wild-card weekend but since this game isn't being held in Houston and Andy Dalton is coming off the best year of his career, I don't expect it to happen again. The Chargers are coming off a narrow victory over the Chiefs backups last week and the Bengals are absolutely electric at home. The Bengals recent playoff track record is absolutely shaky so it's not a lock, but I expect this year to be the season where the Bengals' playoff fortunes turn around.
San Fransisco 49ers over Green Bay Packers: Note: I'm not picking the 49ers to win out of spite that the Packers killed the Bears's playoff run last week. The Packers are certainly a contender with Aaron Rodgers back in the fold and the projected coldest weather in the history of Lambeau Field on Sunday certainly plays to their advantage. That being said, the Packers shaky defense and the 49ers dominant defense should lead to a 49ers victory. Rodgers and co. barely squeaked out a victory on absolutely porous Bears unit last week. The 49ers can get to the quarterback, stop the run and provide lockdown coverage on Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and James Jones, which could lead to rough sledding even for someone as spectacular as Rodgers. It also helps that Colin Kaepernick has had two of the best games of his career against the Packers. I don't expect Kaepernick to deliver another great performance this go-round, but if he is able to get things going, it could be a really long day for the Packers. The 49ers can absolutely ride Frank Gore and their defense to a victory in the Frozen Tundra.
NFL Wild Card Predictions
Well it's that time of the year again, the NFL playoffs start today with a series of intriguing matchups. Could would be looking at our future champion in this round or will it be one of the top two seeds? We'll have to wait and find out..... Here are my picks for all four wild card games.
Cincinnati Bengals over Houston Texans: The first game of the weekend is a rematch of last year's wild card game where the Texans blew out the Bengals with backup quarterback T.J Yates under center. This go-round I think it will lean the other way. As I mentioned in my year-end recap, A month ago the Texans were my pick to make it to the Super Bowl out of the AFC. Their play over the last month has completely changed my opinion of them.Their playing with no fire, confidence, or momentum which is terrible entering the playoffs. The Bengals are the exact opposite. They stepped up big time with a great second half of the year and they are firing on all cylinders right now. Their defense has been making big plays and their pass rush has been dominant of late. I also really like the matchup of Andy Dalton versus the weak Texans secondary. Unless the Texans go back to mid-season form all of a sudden, I think Andy Dalton, A.J Green and the Bengals defense will handle the Texans on their home turf.
Green Bay Packers over Minnesota Vikings:I'm bitter that my beloved Chicago Bears didn't make the playoffs because of the Vikings narrow victory over the Packers last week. This week, I expect a different result. Lambeau Field in the playoffs is a completely different animal for the Vikings. I don't expect Christian Ponder to put up another solid performance like last week, leaving 100% of the pressure on Adrian Peterson. Peterson can absolutely handle it (he has all year, he is the only reason they are in the playoffs), but I think Aaron Rodgers and co. will step to the plate and take care of business. The return of Charles Woodson will benefit the Packers defense and I don't think Peterson will put quite as much of a beatdown on them as he did last week. The Packers have too many weapons for the Vikings to slow down and I think the Packers will win handily.
Baltimore Ravens over Indianapolis Colts: With the return of Ray Lewis and what will be most likely be the final home game of his career combined with Colts coach Chuck Pagano in is second game back after finishing his leukemia treatment against his former employers, This going to be an emotional football game. On paper, this is a very even matchup. The Ravens have not been on the top of their game recently, but Ray Lewis's presence makes them a completely different football team. Lewis is clearly a shadow of his former self from an on-field performance standpoint, but his leadership makes the Ravens play far more inspired football. The Colts have been playing emotionally-charged football since Pagano's leukemia diagnosis and Andrew Luck has done far more than expected in his rookie season. That being said, I don't think the Colts will be beat the Ravens. The Ravens are going to play their hearts out to give Ray Lewis in a win in his last game in front of the home crowd and I think they will pull it out. The X-factor for Baltimore will be Ray Rice. The Colts run defense is pretty weak and if he runs well and catches short passes, he will overshadow the Ravens's flaws. It's a great matchup and this will be an emotionally deep game for both teams, but I think the Ravens home-field advantage and talent advantage will allow them to defeat the Colts.
Washington Redskins over Seattle Seahawks: In the most hotly-anticipated game of wild-card weekend, I'm expecting a slugfest. You got two rookie quarterbacks and two talented football teams with a ton of momentum squaring off. It might not be the popular pick considering how the Seahawks have played recently, but I like the Redskins in this matchup. Robert Griffin III is lacking the burst he had for most of the season because of his sprained knee, but their read option offense matches up well against the Seahawks. As good as Seattle's defense is, They play poorly against play action. The read option has is a nightmare for opposing defense because you don't what they are going to do. RG3 could run, fake it to Alfred Morris to pass, hand off to Morris, or drop back in the pocket and throw a bomb downfield. The Redskins have too many weapons to contain. The Redskins also have the advantage of having this game be at home. The Seahawks are unbeaten at home, but they are definitely beatable on the road. The Seahawks are going to fight hard and could absolutely win this game. Marshawn Lynch is playing out of his mind and Russell Wilson has looked great to finish off the year and he should have a good game against the subpar Redskins secondary. The Seahawks are going to need big performances from their defensive standouts like Richard Sherman, Chris Clemons, and fresh off suspension Brandon Browner if they want to win this game. It should be a battle, but I like the Redskins to pull a narrow upset victory over the Seahawks.

NFL Wild Card Picks
It's been a long time since I've written about sports. With the start of the NFL playoffs this weekend, I felt like I should offer my thoughts/picks on this weekend's slate of games.
My picks:
Cincinnati Bengals Over Houston Texans: If this game had been played in October, I would have went with Houston all the way. But with the slew of injuries the Texans have suffered, I really can't see them winning. Rookie T.J Yates (who was the third string quarterback at the beginning of the season) is getting the start, despite his shoulder injury suffered last week against the Titans. Yates is going against the great defense of the Bengals, whose pass rush has been extremely effective all season long. The Bengals also have the advantage of being healthy and the leadership of Andy Dalton (who is without a doubt the best rookie quarterback in the league in my mind, sorry Cam Newton). It should be a good game, but I foresee Houston's fairy tale season coming to an end tomorrow night.
New Orleans Saints Over Detroit Lions: The Lions have been the surprise team of the year. I called before the season that they would be much improved, but even I didn't expect them to make the playoffs. Unfortunately, they have the daunting task of playing the Saints in their first playoff game. The Saints are one of the hottest teams in the league right now. They have been decimating their opponents in the last few games. Drew Brees has been playing like a man possessed and has showed just how elite of a quarterback he is. Their playoff experience and the chip on their shoulder from their shocking early playoff exit last season gives them an extra advantage.
Atlanta Falcons Over New York Giants: This is my upset pick of the weekend. The Giants have been way too inconsistent to advance in playoffs. If they bring their A-game, it's very possible they could win this game, but I wouldn't be willing to gamble on them. On the other hand, Atlanta has been looking very strong recently. Matt Ryan has stepped up big time in the second half of the season after a sluggish start. He looks to be very determined to lead this team on a run in the playoffs. The Falcons have a lot of weapons (not to say the Giants don't) that should overwhelm the Giants defense (especially in the passing game). It's going come down to a couple of big plays to decide the outcome and I think the Falcons will take it because of that.
Pittsburgh Steelers Over Denver Broncos: Even with a banged up Ben Roethlisberger and Rashard Mendenhall going down for the year, I don't see the Steelers losing this game. Their defense is too good and they don't really need to score too many points to beat Denver. The Broncos also limped into the playoffs. They played absolutely awful in their last three games (especially the last two). Their one-dimensional offense will get eaten alive by Pittsburgh's defense. The only advantage the Broncos have is that this game is in Denver. Denver is the hardest place to play in the NFL, but I don't see it being too much of a problem for Pittsburgh. Unless Tebow Time strikes again, I don't see Denver having a chance in this one.
My picks:

NFL Wild Card Picks
I am putting my final 2 wrap ups for the NFC on hold for right now, it's playoff time in the NFL! This weekend starts the fun with Wild Card Weekend, there are some great matchups in store and it should be fun to watch. Here's what I think will happen this weekend.
New Orleans Saints over Seattle Seahawks
This is by far the easiest one to predict, the Seahawks suck, they shouldn't even be in the playoffs. The defending champs the Saints, should roll over Seattle even without their two leading rushers Pierre Thomas and Chris Ivory. I'm expecting a lopsided victory for the Saints in this one.
Indianapolis Colts over New York Jets
This should be the best game of the weekend, this is a pretty even matchup. In the end, I think the Colts will take it. The home field advantage and Peyton Manning's clutch performance in the playoffs should overshadow the wounded Jets. Mark Sanchez lackluster performance of late and his injury I think will cost the Jets the game.
Green Bay Packers over Philadelphia Eagles
As much as it pains me to say it, I think the Packers will win this game. Aaron Rodgers has been on fire since coming back from his injury, this a team with an agenda and could surprise some teams in the playoffs. The Eagles haven't been themselves in the last few games and I don't think they matchup that well with Green Bay.
Baltimore Ravens over Kansas City Chiefs
Despite the fact I have been big on the Chiefs all season, I don't think they are quite ready to make a run in the playoffs. The Ravens are seasoned veterans in the playoffs and with the Chiefs abysmal performance against Oakland last week, It's going to be a tall order to beat Baltimore, even at home.
New Orleans Saints over Seattle Seahawks
