Movie Review: Hall Pass

After suffering through quite a few straight shit films on DVD, I finally see a film I actually wanted to see! Hall Pass is not a film that is going to redefine the comedy genre, but it's still a solid comedy that is pretty amusing. It's been a while since the Farelly Brothers have done anything worthwhile, and thankfully Hall Pass breaks the cold streak they had been on. Hall Pass brings back the vintage Farrelly Brothers gross-out humor, but it's actually funny this time unlike in The Heartbreak Kid where it fell flat. Owen Wilson and Jason Sudekis make for two likable leads. You sympathize for their characters, even though they are sex-obsessed men who treat their wives like shit. I hope Sudekis continues to get roles and become more popular. He is one of the best parts of SNL and he is a completely hilarious dude. Hall Pass is a bit generic, but that doesn't mean it's not funny. This is a good time-waster that has pretty frequent laughs, a likable cast, and even some heart. Hall Pass gets the job done where other recent Farrelly Brothers films did not and provides a pretty amusing film.

3.5/5 Stars
